Full Description
I will meet you at Dover Port on arrival and begin a private tour designed especially for cruise passengers who would like to explore the history and landscape of Kent, often called the Garden of England.
The day usually starts with a visit to the White Cliffs of Dover, one of the most famous natural landmarks in Britain. From here there are beautiful views across the English Channel, and on clear days it is possible to see the coast of France.
If conditions allow, I also include a stop near Fan Bay Deep Shelter, part of the wartime defences built into the cliffs during the Second World War.
From Dover we continue to Canterbury, one of the most important historic cities in England.
Here you will see Canterbury Cathedral, the mother church of the Anglican world and the place where Archbishop Thomas Becket was murdered in 1170, an event that made the city famous throughout Europe.
There is time to walk through the old streets of Canterbury, see the medieval buildings, and enjoy the atmosphere of this historic town.
Depending on your schedule, the tour can finish back at Dover Port, or continue to London if you are leaving the ship at the end of your cruise.
The itinerary is always planned carefully according to your ship’s arrival and departure times to ensure a relaxed and comfortable day.
