Full Description
I will meet you at your hotel in London and begin a full-day private tour following the timeline of the city from Roman Londinium to modern London.
The day often starts in the City of London, where the Romans founded the first settlement nearly two thousand years ago.
Here you can see remains of the old Roman walls, some of the earliest surviving structures in the capital.
From there I continue to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, two of the most famous landmarks in Britain.
This area also includes some hidden streets and historic corners that many visitors miss, and I like to include a stop at a traditional English pub so you can experience a part of everyday British social life.
We then visit St Paul’s Cathedral, the masterpiece of Sir Christopher Wren and one of the greatest churches in Europe.
The story of St Paul’s is closely connected with the Great Fire of London, the rebuilding of the city, and the development of modern Britain.
The tour continues to Westminster, the political and royal heart of the country, where you will see the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Downing Street, and Whitehall.
At Trafalgar Square you can also see the National Gallery, Nelson’s Column, and St Martin-in-the-Fields, all part of the ceremonial centre of London.
If timing allows, I also like to finish the day in the Whitehall area, where many royal ceremonies have taken place and where King Charles I was executed, one of the most dramatic moments in English history.
This tour can be done mainly on foot with public transport or with a private vehicle depending on your preference.
For visitors staying longer, I usually recommend a second day focusing on royal palaces such as Windsor Castle, Hampton Court Palace, or Kensington Palace, which helps complete the story of the British monarchy.
