Full Description
I will meet you at your hotel in London and we will start our journey towards the south coast of England for a full-day private tour combining history and landscape.
Our first destination is the area of Hastings, where the famous battle of 1066 took place. This was the moment when William, Duke of Normandy, defeated King Harold and became William the Conqueror, changing the course of English history forever.
During our visit I will explain the background of the Norman Conquest, the events of the battle, and how this victory transformed the language, culture, and monarchy of England.
We then continue through the beautiful countryside of Sussex towards the coast, where the landscape changes to rolling hills and dramatic chalk cliffs.
One of the highlights of the day is the Seven Sisters, a series of white chalk cliffs forming one of the most famous coastal views in England. This area is part of the South Downs National Park and offers some of the most impressive scenery in the country.
We also stop at Beachy Head, the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain, where you can enjoy breathtaking views over the English Channel. On a clear day it is sometimes possible to see the coast of France.
There will be time for short walks, photographs, and breaks during the day, and the itinerary can always be adjusted depending on weather, traffic, and your preferences.
At the end of the tour we return comfortably to London.
