Full Description
I will meet you at your hotel in London and travel with you to the British Museum, one of the most important museums in the world and one of the greatest collections of human history ever assembled.
The museum contains objects from ancient civilisations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
During the visit I guide you through the most important galleries and explain the historical background of the cultures represented in the collection.
The tour usually includes Ancient Egypt, where you will see the Rosetta Stone and learn how it helped scholars understand hieroglyphs, as well as the sculptures of ancient Greece, including the Parthenon marbles, and the great reliefs of the Assyrian and Persian empires.
I explain how these objects came to London, why the museum was created, and how the collection reflects the history of exploration, scholarship, and the British Empire.
Because the museum is very large, the visit is carefully planned to focus on the most important highlights while keeping the pace comfortable and enjoyable.
This tour is ideal for visitors who want to understand the story of civilisation through the most famous artefacts in the world.
